Hey! Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend. Mine is spent keeping busy . . . as usual.
I have been looking at these two huge stashes of yarn for quite some time now and thinking to myself . . . “You really gotta do something about that!”
Together, probably 30 + POUNDS OF YARN> OMG!
This pile is Lion Brand Homespun, in various colors I have purchased over a few years.
This is a pretty good sized box! It takes up half of the love seat. There must be at least 15 to 20 POUNDS Caron’s ONE POUND yarn. Literally. :D
Here you can kind of see the knitting needles I am using. Size 50! I think 3 skeins held together is enough for a nice scarf. I cast on 20 stitches for this project, and I’ll knit the garter stitch until it’s about 70 inches.
Knitting with these seriously huge needles is kind of fun. Because, I am seriously all about ‘instant gratification’. That is probably why I usually stick to small(er) projects.
I would love to blow through this stash by making a couple afghans. Maybe if I use 4 strands of yarn . . .
Alright, enough sharing for now. I am going to get back to work.

I am a recently widowed, mother of three wonderful, grown children, G-Ma (Grandma) to seven beautiful grandchildren.
I work full time at a nearby grocer as the Pricing Coordinator.
In my spare time, I craft and blog. Crochet is my obsession, my compulsion. My best friend, my therapist. I also have learned I love to knit! Who knew??? I may never be a master knitter, but I am a happy knitter. :D
Work, family, Women's Pool League, crafting and blogging. Pretty much takes up every waking minute of every day, but besides that I love movies and music (which I can enjoy while I am crafting!). And here I thought I didn't have a life!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog. I appreciate every click. :D

I bet that would make a great throw. Big knits are so in and the stitches look great magnified.
Oh ya! I thought I would start with a scarf to gauge my stitches. Can’t wait to see one on my sofa. :) I’ve got lots of nice colors to work with . . .
This looks like a seriously big task….. I like making small things and have spent the evening making hearts for bunting. It always gives me a sense of satisfaction to see the finished item so I get a bit impatient when it comes to long projects. I have the wool for a jumper in a bag by the sofa so perhaps I should tackle that. Good luck with your de-stashing. :-)
It’s so great tho, these huge needles make quick work of the yarn. I’ll have this scarf done today. Then . . . on to bigger. I swear, I’m gonna beat this stash, by golly! :D
Well whatever you do with it, don’t throw it away! because you will instantly regret it. I’m talking about the stash here. I have been doing the same thing. However, what happens to me is this: I put the surplus in the ‘thrift’ bag one day, then the next day I take it out again and put it back under the table. There’s no hope here!
LOL . . . glad to know I am not the only one. I am fortunate to have a daughter who loves to crochet also. So, a good portion of stash goes to her. That way I don’t regret getting rid of any.
I have been seriously thinking of posting some of my surplus in my Etsy shop . . .
You know that you can get WAY bigger needles than that? Longer than my arm? Right up your street :)
Haha, these are plenty big. Just wish they were circulars tho . . .
Oh yes, now that would be very cool.
